Hello Ladies and Gents, Ive decided that what I need most in my life is the unreliability of an Alfa Romeo GTV.
To do this I need to sell my Peugeot 206 (parking restrictions, financial, etc). To help stand out Ive been humorous:
Why are humans put on Earth? What is the ultimate goal of life?
Many people have pondered this ponderful question, but the ultimate answer (or one of a few) is to have a family and carry on your genealogy.
To have a family you first need someone to awkwardly fool around/make sexy time with. This magnificent beast of automotive perfection will help you achieve this. It has been scientifically proven to titillate women and arouse men.
No matter how unconventional you look this car will cause people to throw themselves at you. (If they do the brakes work fine and you wont run them over). For instance, I have it on good authority Gerard Depardididideu bought a car like this to start a family.
What is this stunning product you ask? It is a Peugeot 206 1.6 GLX .
Rest of listing is here: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Please can you help spread the message. Thanks, Salman

The old GTVs aren't that bad at all. Same platform as my 156, which is currently at 119k miles without any major problems.
Would you be going for a T-Spark or a V6? I'd thoroughly recommend the V6 for the noise and speed, but they are thirsty things and the T-Spark is a more balanced chassis.

Thanks for commenting.
Honestly Im looking for a 2.0 due to the better handling and economy, plus for the noise I could fit a sportier exhaust.
I was considering an Audi 80 convertible (sacrilege I know) and a Mazda MX-5, but the condition of the cars with my budget (around 2000GBP) doesnt make it worthwhile.
Could you let me know how your Alfa has held up, as most of the GTVs are around the 90K to 130K mark?

No worries. The 2.0l T-Sparks are pretty damn good, although it'd be worth checking up on common faults and how you can solve them (don't be put off by endless horror stories, people tend to only post issues when they get desperate).
You can get good NA MX-5s over here for £1200-2000. My mate's been looking for one for a while, and he's fairly picky about the condition of any new purchase.
I haven't had a single major issue with the 156 while I've had it. There's been a couple of things, but none really applicable to 2.0l GTVs.
The exhaust rusted through (but that was because I grounded it on a curb) and I replaced it with a stainless one which makes a lovely noise.
Then I had a couple of issues with the MAF sensor (also shared with BMWs of the same era). They get gummed up with oil and grease if the filter's not seated properly, and a good clean with electrical cleaner sorted that.
Apart from that, not a dickie-bird.

Ah thanks for the advice. To be honest I looked at the MX5 Mk1 first but the ones around London have too high mileage/have been ragged hard/pimped horrendously.
My uncles a mechanic and he says Alfas have this myth about reliability, and if the previous owner treated it normally then all should be good.
I was just worried at how high mileage affects the engines (as its not a Volvo!) but your comment and others on the net have eased my mind.
Just need to sell the Peugeot 206!

Your uncle sounds like a clever man. The thing about brand-wide reputations for reliability is they were forged decades ago and tend to not have much bearing on cars today.
Good luck with the sale. I reckon it'll sell alright. Popular cars in today's high fuel-price market.
Let us know if you manage to pull it off.

Thanks, will definitely post the results of this Alfaquest.
I want one so badly I dusted off Gran Turismo 2 to virtually sit in the leather!

What is an Alfa Romeo T spark? Are you referring to the GTA engine?

The T-Spark is the family of 4-cylinder engines that were used from the 75 to the 156. They were called T-Sparks because the had two spark plugs per cylinder to get better ignition.
The GTA engine is the most powerful Arese (or Busso) V6 released by the factory.
Hope that helps :)

Sold the Peugeot!!
Made a bit over the reserve so Im pleased.
Had 3 offers and the one I chose was in middle of price and the person who bought it was buying it for her niece as her first car. I liked this as it was my mum who bought me this car.
Im getting a little cold feet on the Alfa Romeo front though - the car I was supposed to buy is now having its rear suspension arms changed. I think I may be pulled by the force of the MX5

Sweet. Glad you got more than the reserve.
No worries about the cold feet. The MX-5 is a great car too.
The rear suspension arms is pretty normal at this age though. The rubber bushes perish after a certain time (on any suspension) and need replacing. It's often easier to replace the whole arm if the bushes are pressed in.
If anything it'd mean one less thing that's waiting to go wrong, although it'd be worth checking the other suspension bushes to see if they need replacing too.
